Well Christmas is over, New Year’s Eve celebrations have been fully recovered from (although I’m not sure we could cope with too many parties ’til 3am!!) and we’ve finally had the chance to sit down and look through a handful of our beautiful 2018 weddings.
What an incredible year we had! We worked at some stunning venues – Ravello in Italy, St Ives, Carbis Bay, Pentillie Castle, Lanhydrock, Woolacombe, Polhawn Fort, Carlyon Bay & Bovey Castle to name just a few. We photographed farmers & F1! We did family photoshoots for past wedding customers and engagement shoots for future ones. We had some wonderful commercial shoots, made a lot of new friends in the wedding industry and it was great to work with each and every one of them đ
So here are a few of our favourites from a few of our weddings. It was a complete honour to be involved in all these special days, and thanks to all the amazing brides & grooms who put their faith in us. Your kind words about us are the biggest buzz we could ever get!
(more…)Youâve spent hours working out the reception seating plan (âWe canât put Cousin Fred next to Vera-from-work. He shoots pheasants for fun and sheâs a strict veganâŚâ) but no one ever mentioned the church.  At least, not until the rehearsal, when one of the ushers asked exactly what they had to do.  Um, give out orders of service and show people to their seats.  And umâŚ
Itâs probably better to work it all out in advance and hopefully this wedding photographers guide to wedding ceremony seating will help!
So who sits where? (more…)
You see it all the time in wedding blogs & magazines, but what does having an âunplugged weddingâ actually mean?
Well an unplugged wedding is exactly that, your guests unplug themselves from phones, ipads (other tablets are available…), cameras (yes Uncle Bob that means you too!) and any other device or technology lurking in their bags or pockets. Its about enjoying the moments as they happen, looking around and seeing friends and family, seeing the emotions & feeling the love. We live in a world where people constantly check their phones, take photos and upload them to the social media platform of their choice, but no bride wants to be faced with a wall of phones as sheâs about to walk up the aisle. Sheâs excited and nervous and would much rather see everyoneâs smiling faces.
So should you have an unplugged wedding?

Dream weddings do happen! All the planning and preparation comes together and results in a perfect day for everyone â the Bride & Groom, their family & friends and even their happy little wedding photographers! We were recommended to Abi & Mike by the Carbis Bay Hotel and our first meeting was on a slightly drizzly & windy, definitely freezing day in February. Carbis Bay beach still looked impressive but we all expressed a desire for better weather come the wedding day! We werenât disappointed.
(more…)We can’t quite believe it, but it’s that time of year again. The amazing Royal Cornwall Show is this week at the showgound in Wadebridge. We’ll be in the wedding marquee again with an amazing not-to-be-missed offer for some lucky brides & grooms đ
We love the Show, it’s one of our yearly highlights, and love meeting so many fabulous brides & grooms. We’re extremely proud of our good reputation and the young farmer weddings we book each year are so much fun!
So if you’re planning a wedding why not pop in and say hello to us and all the other amazing wedding suppliers. You can plan your whole wedding!
The Show runs from Thursday to Saturday. We’ll see you there đ

Unless youâve been hidden under a rock recently you will know that HRH Prince Henry Charles Albert David Windsor (thatâs Prince Harry to you and me) is marrying Meghan Markle (actually Rachel Meghan â who knew?!) on Saturday 19th May.
The whole world loves a royal wedding. Curiosity about the dress reaches fever pitch and wedding suppliers brace themselves for all those requests “I want my cake/dress/bouquet exactly like that……..!”
Wedding photography is subtly different in that no one asks for their photos to be royal copies. To be fair not many people have a spare ballroom to set everything up in, but we do get to see everyone elseâs fabulous efforts. But as a wedding photographer myself it got me thinking about royal weddings in general and how much â or little â the public actually get to see. Thereâs a growing trend in the UK which you may have heard of, in fact if you happen to be at the wedding planning stage yourself it may even have crossed your mind as being a jolly good idea. The plot twist of many romantic novels – think daring rendevouz with an unsuitable beau and a moonlit dash to Gretna Green by horse & carriage with cross relatives in hot pursuit! Alright, maybe Iâve watched a little too much âPoldarkâ and it didnât work out quite as planned for Downton Abbeyâs Lady Sybil when she first tried to run away with the chauffeur, but elopement weddings are definitely gaining popularity.
And with miles of stunning coastline to explore, what better elopement destination in the UK than beautiful Cornwall? (more…)
Our first wedding fair of the season will be this fabulous affair at the Carbis Bay Hotel in St Ives. We’re a recommended supplier for Carbis Bay and its definitely on our favourite venues list! Entry is free and we’ll have a special offer available on the day! So if you’re planning a special day of your own why not pop along and say hello on Sunday 18th March between 12 & 4pm.
Iâll admit to being a little biased when it comes to weddings. Obviously Iâm going to say that the wedding photography is the most important thing to get right! Ok, perhaps the dress is uber important too (and Iâm assuming youâve chosen the right partner!) but itâs a big decision. Your wedding day will go by in a flash and your wedding photographs may be your only real memories from one of the most special days of your life. With all that in mind, here are our top 10 tips for choosing the right photographer for you:
