Sam & Matt’s wedding day at The Cow Shed started with blue sky and bright sunshine, which is just how we like it. Ok we had heard tell of torrential rain later, but The Cow Shed at Freathy is a fabulous rustic wedding venue and September is usually not-too-bad, so we cheerfully ignored all of that!

Sam proved to be a very relaxed bride with the most unique bridal hair and makeup courtesy of Gem Ryder MUA and April Wagner Hair. Her gorgeous statement earrings were made out of old bicycle tyres (a tribute to Matt – a super keen cyclist) and there was a decent amount of sparkle in the bridesmaids dresses and accessories. Cue one very happy photographer!

Robb caught up with Matt and the boys for a few casual shots before everyone headed to the ceremony barn. Possibly the most unique wedding rings we’ve ever seen too!

Bride & groom portraits outside Freathy Farmhouse. Everything had that fabulous late September slightly wild and overgrown look.

We love it when our couples go the extra mile to personalise their wedding day. Who are we kidding, it’s a wedding photographers dream! The tables were all named after pubs with special meaning for Sam & Matt. Each table name had an explanation of when & where they’d visited.

Possibly the cutest and smiliest wedding guest ever! Sam & Matt’s gorgeous baby boy 🙂

Well yes, it’s a drinking vessel made from an animal horn and probably needs a bit more explanation. This was Matt’s gift from Sam and I can honestly say we’ve never seen such an excited groom! Apparently he saw them, loved them, nearly bought himself one then dutifully didn’t because, you know, saving for a wedding. It was immediately filled and I don’t think he put it down for the rest of the day!

Some truly amusing speeches from Matt and his brother/best man. The timing was spot on too, because as the speeches finished the rain began to fall…and fall….and fall….. For the first time ever I thought about retrieving my wellies from the car!

There was a bit of a break in the rain (hurrah!) so after dinner we dragged the happy couple back up to the ceremony barn, set up some lights and managed to get the portraits that probably would have happened outside if rain hadn’t stopped play. I think we might just have got lucky!

So when I said it rained a lot I wasn’t joking… The heavens opened for some heavy duty Cornish “liquid sunshine”. But the milking parlour was cosy, the fire was roaring and the band got everyone moving!

Sam, Matt & baby Atlas we wish you all the best for a long and happy future together in New Zealand. Thank you so much for asking us to capture your special day. It’s certainly one we’ll remember for a long time 🙂
