On a fabulously hot summer day at the end of August, I had the privilege of photographing Natalie & Jason’s beautiful wedding at the Carbis Bay Hotel.

I hadn’t been able to meet up with Natalie or Jason before the wedding – sometimes it just isn’t possible – but from our conversations over the phone I knew all the details and was really looking forward to seeing everything come together. I met up with Natalie in the amazing new complex on the beach, where she and her family were getting ready. Having seen the rooms before they were finished, I knew they were something special, but the view from those huge picture windows is absolutely stunning! Natalie proved to be a very laid-back bride with a lovely casual style. Her simple dress, gorgeous flower crown and espadrilles were perfect for a beach wedding. I think my favourite accessory was the bracelet saying “Best Midwife ever” – a gift to Natalie from her parents on graduation 🙂

Jason and his crew looked the part too in blue suits and much-needed shades. For someone who didn’t like having his photograph taken (and definitely didn’t want to take his shades off) I have to say that Jason did incredibly well!

The ceremony took place in “The Sands” restaurant at the hotel and it was just like Natalie & Jason themselves – laid-back and good-humoured!

Then, while the room was being turned around for the wedding breakfast, it was drinks and canapes on the decking before headeding to the beach for photos. Thankfully it wasn’t busy as there is a limit to how glam even we can make a packed beach look. Florescent windbreaks and half dressed holidaymakers are truly the stuff of a wedding photographer’s nightmares…. So, having managed to persuede one scantily-clad gentleman NOT to reposition his bright orange beach tent right in front of the wedding party group and right before the group photos, we were good to go.

Carbis Bay did not disappoint! The tide was low, the sand was clear and the sky was blue. A bit of a breeze kept the temperature just right and didn’t cause too many issues with Natalie’s hair flying around 😉 We love how wedding guests always rush to the water for a quick dip of their toes in the sea. It might look like the Mediterranean but doesn’t always feel like it! But our brides and grooms don’t care and are always quite happy to take a stroll to the end of the beach together 🙂

Then it was back up to the hotel for a quick mingle with guests followed by a confetti walk through on the decking accompanied by Natalie’s son, before all the guests were ushered inside. Natalie & Jason cut their naked wedding cake before the speeches and a rather emotional slideshow of their families together. Then I left them in peace to enjoy the rest of their day. I’m reliably informed that they had an amazing evening!

It was such a pleasure to meet everyone. Thank you Natalie and Jason for trusting me with your special day memories and I truly wish you both a long and happy life together 🙂
