rainy day photographer in carbis bay

Another gorgeous Carbis Bay Hotel wedding. This time at the end of a very busy summer season, when the hotel and beach were full of holiday makers enjoying the spectacular surroundings. It’s a definite perk of being recommended wedding photographer at the Carbis Bay Hotel that we get to see the bay in all its glory throughout the year.

On this occasion it was for Tanya and Andy’s big day! Such a beautiful wedding with so much thought put into every aspect. Tanya’s bridal preparations were livened up considerably by her little niece, her Mum & her Grandma all being in attendance. It’s not often that four generations can share such a special time.

Tanya and Andy chose the gazebo overlooking the swimming pool & spa for their ceremony. An incredibly intimate space for weddings. Afterwards it was down to Carbis Bay Beach for the group photos, confetti shots and some portraits of just the two of them. Of course little nieces don’t always want to have their photo taken. They’d much rather dig in the sand and head for the sea with various family members in hot pursuit! But once that was accomplished, we headed over to the far end of the beach, away from the sunbathers and impromptu games of beach cricket.

Carbis Bay Beach is always stunning for wedding photographs. Of course being wedding photographers in Cornwall we’re pretty lucky with our venues most days! We certainly struck lucky as the sea was beautifully calm and, right over by the rocks, was the most stunning deep green colour. Just a few seagulls to watch our beautiful bride & groom take a few moments to themselves.

Back up to the Hotel for an amazing menu and fabulous speeches. I always find Father of the Bride speeches incredibly moving. This one was highly amusing as well! And just as everyone was enjoying the Best Man’s speech the weather began to change! First the rainbow appeared over Godrevy, then the rain started to fall. We remain undaunted by such trivial matters (!) after all, we’re professional photographers and have big umbrellas!

I can honestly say that I’ve never seen the sky quite that colour over the hotel! Nature at its finest. Tanya and Andy wanted some evening shots on the beach, so we braved the rain – which subsequently stopped then started again – with our mobile lights and dashed down there. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves by this time and, I don’t know why, but I’m always surprised by how early it gets dark by the end of August!

Tanya and Andy finished their evening back up at the Carbis Bay Hotel with a slideshow of childhood memories. A complete surprise to them by all accounts and no doubt featuring the best of their baby pictures and teenage haircuts! The party continued with some wicked disco action from all of the guests. We left them to it!
