Our very last wedding of 2017, a tiny occasion with just Tom, Lydia, their two guests and their beautiful baby! The days between Christmas and New Year can be a bit dull even in beautiful Cornwall (collapsing on the sofa with a box of choccies can sometimes lose its charm…) so I was super pleased when Tom booked me for their wedding. Everything was casual, the Carbis Bay Hotel looked beautifully Christmassy and even the weather behaved itself. Bit of a fresh breeze(!) and the sea was having a tantrum, but Tom & Lydia were happy to brave the beach! We wish them every happiness for a fabulous future 🙂 (more…)

Carol & Adrian at The Carbis Bay Hotel, St Ives
Carol chose a breezy blue and white theme for her wedding to Adrian at The Carbis Bay Hotel. At our first meeting they explained how much they wanted their whole wedding to be relaxed and laid-back, no posed photography and a sort of beach party for their family & friends. They certainly achieved it! We might be the hotel’s recommended wedding photographer (and we do photograph Carbis Bay a lot!) but we never tire of it. Beautiful blue skies on the day helped and Carbis Bay Beach was as stunning as ever. We love how much the sea tempts guests to run into it!
Emotions were running high for Carol during the ceremony as soon as she saw Adrian waiting for her, but happy tears are very much a part of weddings and perfectly ok. Adrian just beamed from ear to ear all day!
There were beach games, digging in the sand & even swimming for some of the children. The grown-ups all had a go at playing cricket, no idea how the score went but we reckon they were probably all winners! Even the wedding cake joined in with the beach theme – the deckchair topper was fab 🙂 The speeches were emotional, the disco rocked (Carol’s boys saw to that with their impromptu dance off!) and the fireworks were a perfect ending to a perfect day.
It was such a pleasure to be part of Carol & Adrian’s special day. We wish them many more years of love & happiness 🙂

Clare & Carl at The Guildhall St Ives & Porthminster Beach (with a mermaid!)
Claire & Carl’s sunny St Ives wedding was a lovely laid-back affair. They chose The Guildhall in St Ives for their ceremony, which was attended by just a handful of close family. After the short but emotional ceremony we headed of to Porthminster Beach for some photos, with a rather special surprise on the way for their daughter. Claire & Carl had arranged for the St Ives Mermaid to put in an appearance, much to the delight of the whole wedding party and surrounding tourists! She posed for a lot of photos (not just ours!) and presented the rather awe-struck little girl with her very own mermaid.
Porthminster Beach was busy – as you’d expect on a lovely sunny day – so we headed to a quieter spot for some photos. The children had a great time racing around and I think the grown-ups had just as much fun! Claire & Carl wanted to keep the whole wedding casual so my time with them was short but lovely. Its a wonderful perk of being a wedding photographer in Cornwall to be involved in so many different types of wedding celebrations! I left the family enjoying some beach time before their party continued at a restaurant in the evening.
A lovely day for a lovely little family. Best wishes to you all for a continued happy future 🙂

Liz & Geoff at The Harbour Hotel in St Ives
Last July we spent a fun afternoon photographing Liz & Geoff’s wedding in the stunning venue of The Harbour Hotel in St Ives. Liz & Geoff had made the decision to walk down the aisle together, and to get ready together too. Geoff did look slightly out of his comfort zone in a room full of bridal preparations and then helping to lace up Liz’s beautiful dress, but he coped splendidly!
The weather was kind to us – how fantastic are those skies?! – and after the laid-back ceremony everyone rushed to the beach for a sneaky ice-cream or paddle. Days like this don’t get much better, and we always say that being wedding photographers in Cornwall is the most enjoyable job 🙂
Since then we’ve put together a couple of wonderful storybooks for the family, which reminded us all over again what a lovely day it had been. Liz & Geoff we wish you all the very best for a very happy life together 🙂

Julia & James at The Carbis Bay Hotel
Julia & James’ sunny wedding in Carbis Bay was one of those simply happy days that leaves everyone in a good mood! As both Julia & James are music teachers there was a nod to musicality in their theme, with pretty musical note ribbon in the flowers and sheet music paper for the confetti.
After the ceremony at The Carbis Bay Hotel and photographs on Carbis Bay Beach, we whisked them over to Godrevy for some photos. The evening sunlight really made the water sparkle, and we all managed not to get washed away by the incoming tide!
A lovely day for a lovely couple 🙂

Leni & Mike at Tregenna Castle Hotel
We rarely photograph a wedding without meeting the bride & groom beforehand, but with Leni’s hectic work schedule it just wasn’t possible. Several phone conversations later and I was really looking forward to meeting them both…you just can’t go wrong when you’re being booked on a recommendation and the venue is as beautiful as Tregenna Castle!
We certainly weren’t disappointed when they turned out to be the one of the most chilled-out couples we’ve ever met!
The day was just perfect and even the weather behaved itself. Being a Cornwall wedding photographer on days like this is really the best job in the world, and the images taken by the pavillion in the evening are some of our favourites from last season.

Morwenna & Steve at St Petrocs Padstow & The Carnmarth Hotel Newquay
Another great couple and a beautiful Cornish day for a wedding! The church of St Petroc proved to be a stunning venue for a highly entertaining ceremony courtesy of Fr. Malkinson. The bridesmaids were extremely cute and we thoroughly approved of the ‘cadbury purple’ colour scheme. My guess that Morwenna is a bit of a choccoholic was spot on later when the favours turned out to be huge bars of Dairy Milk!
Off to the Carnmarth Hotel in Newquay (with a quick beach stop enroute) and we still couldn’t believe how lucky we were with the weather. On days like this being a wedding photographer in Cornwall is an absolute dream!
After some highly amusing speeches we left everyone to enjoy the rest of their day. We just know everyone had a great time!

Hayley & Peter at The Carbis Bay Hotel
Ok we’ll admit we are phenomenally lucky with our brides & grooms…and Hayley & Peter just added to our list of gorgeous-people-we-have-photographed!
A balmy day at one of our favourite beaches, and a beautiful wedding with so much attention to detail. Once again its been impossible to choose our favourite images.
The ceremony was emotional, the ice-cream trike made everyone smile, the beach was perfect (even if the sea was freezing..), the speeches were moving, the caricaturist was extremely talented, the band rocked, the fireworks sparkled and the glow-in-the-dark glasses were impossible to put together…though myself, Cara from the Carbis Bay Hotel and Joel from Dove Films managed it eventually! Just everything that a Cornish wedding photographer could want!
There are lots more images from this gorgeous wedding on our facebook page x
Plymouth Herald Featured Editorial – How to Choose a Photographer
Well I don’t really like having my photo taken – much prefer to be behind the camera photographing beautiful weddings in Cornwall & Devon – but it was nice to be featured in the Plymouth Herald’s Weekend supplement as a bit of an expert! Heres our article, with a simply lovely photo of me clutching our Westcountry Wedding Award for Best Bespoke Photography 2014 🙂
