On a rather grey-with-the-promise-of-blue-sky day in March, I arrived at the gorgeous Dartington Hall in Devon for Vania & Simon’s wedding. Vania only wanted a small amount of photography, so I joined them just before the ceremony. Its always great to photograph couples with a fun sense of humour, and Vania & Simon have exactly that, cue giggling throughout!
We dodged the rain to take some photos in the stunning gardens. We had exclusive use and it was a bit wet underfoot, but full marks to the heroic wedding planner who managed to wield an umbrella, hold Vania’a dress off the ground and hide herself in the pictures all at once! And hooray!! the rain stopped and the sun came out.
Entering into the spirit of the medieval hall, special mention has to go to Vania’s dad who actually made the medieval ‘beer & photo booth’ himself! And so I left them partying on 🙂 It was an absolute pleasure to share a very tiny part of their special day. Huge congratulations to them both x
Occasionally things change and it just works out for the better. At April & Richard’s Gwel an Mor wedding on Saturday we were hoping to visit the beach for photos earlier in the day. A change of timings meant we had to delay the beach until the evening, and we’re rather glad we did! There were five black swans on the beach when we arrived and lots of interested locals. The natural reaction was to include the swans in some of our photos – slightly tricky because you can’t tell a swan where to stand, and they’re awfully big close up! I confess I didn’t appreciate quite how rare these beautiful creatures are until the story got picked up by the local news & Pirate FM.
So here is an official photo of our gorgeous bride & groom – April & Richard – with five rare black swans on Portreath Beach in Cornwall 🙂
Back at the end of September 2014 we spent our own wedding anniversary working……photographing another wedding! But we didn’t mind at all, in fact we had a brilliant day with Catherine & John and their fabulous family & friends 🙂 Pentillie Castle and Estate is definitely one of our favourite places to be. Our own studio is literally just across the road and how lucky are we!!
Catherine & John were so chilled about the whole day they were an absolute joy to work with. Every detail was beautiful, especially the brilliant Flowers by Catherine – flowers in muddy boots – perfect for a farmer.
The highlight of a Pentillie wedding is being driven around the estate in a landrover full of mud, hanging on for dear life and trying to stop cameras bouncing all over the interior! Its well worth it for the views though – such fabulous photo opportunities 🙂
We’re looking forward to more Pentillie Castle wedding photography this year, and this certainly was a lovely day for a wonderful couple. If you’re planning a wedding there why not get in touch. You can see lots more images from this gorgeous wedding on our facebook page.

Another great couple and a beautiful Cornish day for a wedding! The church of St Petroc proved to be a stunning venue for a highly entertaining ceremony courtesy of Fr. Malkinson. The bridesmaids were extremely cute and we thoroughly approved of the ‘cadbury purple’ colour scheme. My guess that Morwenna is a bit of a choccoholic was spot on later when the favours turned out to be huge bars of Dairy Milk!
Off to the Carnmarth Hotel in Newquay (with a quick beach stop enroute) and we still couldn’t believe how lucky we were with the weather. On days like this being a wedding photographer in Cornwall is an absolute dream!
After some highly amusing speeches we left everyone to enjoy the rest of their day. We just know everyone had a great time!
More images of this lovely couple can be found on our facebook page 🙂
Quite an amazing wedding this one! And apologies in advance for putting up so many images, but I just couldn’t narrow it down any more. We were worried about the rain on the horizon, but in the end it was the gale force winds that kept us inside all day. Fortunately the interior of the The Atlantic Hotel is rather fabulous so we just had to settle for dramatic!
Shelley looked absolutely stunning in the most gorgeous fluffy Maggie Sottero dress, and as for Dan – well who doesn’t love a handsome groom in a tux?!
We had great fun with a lovely Bride & Groom, their wonderful families & friends, and all in a fabulous location. It was great to meet Ben from Foster Filming as well. Its hard work being wedding photographers in Cornwall (honest!) but we love it 🙂
A very sunny & bright sky emerged in the middle of February for Amy & Lee’s special day. Its always lovely to photograph a church wedding, St Nicholas & Faith Church in Saltash is one of our favourites, and Amy looked so glam that Lee just couldn’t take his eyes off her when she glided up the aisle! The boys all looked rather smart too – and what a brilliant job they did in transforming the reception venue with oodles of sparkle.
Being a wedding photographer in Cornwall is always fun and we just don’t know what we’ll be photographing on the day. The brilliant cake topper (& Amy’s surprise Saltash Rugby Club themed garter) rather reflected Lee’s love of the game and was just perfect! Wishing you both (and all those beautiful daughters!) a very happy life together x
We are absolutely over-the-moon that we’ve made the finals of the Westcountry Wedding Awards 2014 for the category of Bespoke Photographer!! Huge thanks to all of our wonderful brides & grooms who voted for us. Competition is extremely fierce with so many talented photographers around so we couldn’t be happier 🙂
Every year in the course of our wedding photography work we are really lucky to meet lots of fabulous people. As well as the rest of our amazing brides & grooms, it’s always great to meet & photograph members of the armed forces. Sometimes they’ve just come back and sometimes they’re about to go, but the wedding fun is always guaranteed! We are pleased to offer special discounts to members of the armed forces for weddings in Cornwall, Devon or anywhere else for that matter! Why not get in touch to see if we’re available for your date 🙂
Now I know I’ve said before that there are lots of perks to being a wedding photographer in cornwall…….but on a sunny day you just can’t beat ice-cream! Admittedly it can be difficult juggling cameras and a cone of ferrero rocher (note favourite flavour there) but believe me when the ice-cream comes from Mr B’s in Hayle an effort has to be made. If you’re after something a little different to surprise your wedding guests then their vintage van is a must. And if you’re just out and about in Hayle do pop into the shop. I warn you though, its almost impossible to choose just one flavour…and then there are the delicious ice-cream cakes…..yum! Here are a couple of images from one of our favourite weddings at The Carbis Bay Hotel.
Another wonderful day of wedding photography in Cornwall at the Carbis bay hotel. Well what can I say about these two, except they are just great fun! Katie looked absolutely stunning (and very Cheryl Cole-like) in a gorgeous dress & no small amount of sparkle. Even her shoes had ‘I Do’ written in sparkles underneath! The atmosphere was calm, fun & friendly and I couldn’t believe how quickly the morning whizzed by.
Bobby’s face was a picture when Katie walked down the aisle, the ceremony was very touching and there were a few tears around the room. Afterwards everyone rushed to get down onto the beach more wonderful wedding photographs in the September sunshine. The little bridesmaids thought it was great, but weren’t so keen on leaving to go and start the wedding breakfast. Afterwards – to everyones delight – a vintage ice-cream van courtesy of Mr B’s in Hayle turned up. Katie had booked it as a surprise for Bobby, and she leapt into the van & started serving ice-creams! I’m not sure who was most excited, but the hotel grounds quickly filled up with wedding guests holding ice-cream cones!
We rounded the evening of Cornish wedding photography off with our ‘photo booth’. A chance for everyone to put on a daft wig and write a blackboard message to the bride & groom. Ok we usually find that some guests just like having photos taken of themselves (and that’s perfectly fine!) but everyone joins in and it’s a brilliant way to thank the happy couple for a fab day.
Katie & Bobby, we had huge fun at your wedding and you are truly a special couple. We wish you all the luck & love in the world for your future together x
