Peak wedding season will be here again before we know it. And with it comes all those inevitable questions for cornwall wedding photographers such as: “Is your camera heavy?”, “Do you actually like weddings?” and, probably the most popular question of all, “Where does this go?”, as the Groom/Best Man/Aunt waves a buttonhole under our nose.
Well the short answer to the first two questions is “Yes!”. The third needs a little more attention.
So who exactly wears a buttonhole? Or boutonnières as they are sometimes referred to.
I’ll admit to being a little biased when it comes to weddings. Obviously I’m going to say that the wedding photography is the most important thing to get right! Ok, perhaps the dress is uber important too (and I’m assuming you’ve chosen the right partner!) but it’s a big decision. Your wedding day will go by in a flash and your wedding photographs may be your only real memories from one of the most special days of your life. With all that in mind, here are our top 10 tips for choosing the right photographer for you:
Tip 1: What’s Your Style (this is a biggie so needs to come first!) (more…)
How fast is January whizzing by?! Christmas seems like months ago and we’re looking forward to another year of beautiful wedding photography in Cornwall, Devon and beyond this year. But 2017 was fabulous as well and we even managed to visit some of our favourite venues several times!
We’ve spent the afternoon compiling a few of our favourite images from some of our lovely 2017 weddings! Some are posed, most are not, but each image has our signature natural, romantic and bespoke style. Thank you 2017 brides & grooms – and thank you to all of the hard-working wedding co-ordinators that we had the pleasure of working with. We loved you all!! (more…)
Claire & Carl’s sunny St Ives wedding was a lovely laid-back affair. They chose The Guildhall in St Ives for their ceremony, which was attended by just a handful of close family. After the short but emotional ceremony we headed of to Porthminster Beach for some photos, with a rather special surprise on the way for their daughter. Claire & Carl had arranged for the St Ives Mermaid to put in an appearance, much to the delight of the whole wedding party and surrounding tourists! She posed for a lot of photos (not just ours!) and presented the rather awe-struck little girl with her very own mermaid.
Porthminster Beach was busy – as you’d expect on a lovely sunny day – so we headed to a quieter spot for some photos. The children had a great time racing around and I think the grown-ups had just as much fun! Claire & Carl wanted to keep the whole wedding casual so my time with them was short but lovely. Its a wonderful perk of being a wedding photographer in Cornwall to be involved in so many different types of wedding celebrations! I left the family enjoying some beach time before their party continued at a restaurant in the evening.
A lovely day for a lovely little family. Best wishes to you all for a continued happy future 🙂
Occasionally things change and it just works out for the better. At April & Richard’s Gwel an Mor wedding on Saturday we were hoping to visit the beach for photos earlier in the day. A change of timings meant we had to delay the beach until the evening, and we’re rather glad we did! There were five black swans on the beach when we arrived and lots of interested locals. The natural reaction was to include the swans in some of our photos – slightly tricky because you can’t tell a swan where to stand, and they’re awfully big close up! I confess I didn’t appreciate quite how rare these beautiful creatures are until the story got picked up by the local news & Pirate FM.
So here is an official photo of our gorgeous bride & groom – April & Richard – with five rare black swans on Portreath Beach in Cornwall 🙂
On a gorgeous summer day last year (yes there were some gorgeous days last summer!) we had the privilege of photographing Rachel & Will’s beautiful wedding. Rachel wanted a quiet morning so we started our photography at the church, and said hello again to Chris the vicar whom we’re getting to know quite well 🙂 Calstock Church is a really lovely venue, and it was Rachel’s brilliant idea to use the rugby club afterwards – completely transformed with drapes, decoration & twinkling lights. Rachel was serene & beautiful, and Will & friends were hugely entertaining throughout the whole proceedings. There were some very amusing speeches to finish, and we really hope Tavistock has made a full recovery from the loss of its favourite bachelor! 😀

Last July we spent a fun afternoon photographing Liz & Geoff’s wedding in the stunning venue of The Harbour Hotel in St Ives. Liz & Geoff had made the decision to walk down the aisle together, and to get ready together too. Geoff did look slightly out of his comfort zone in a room full of bridal preparations and then helping to lace up Liz’s beautiful dress, but he coped splendidly!
The weather was kind to us – how fantastic are those skies?! – and after the laid-back ceremony everyone rushed to the beach for a sneaky ice-cream or paddle. Days like this don’t get much better, and we always say that being wedding photographers in Cornwall is the most enjoyable job 🙂
Since then we’ve put together a couple of wonderful storybooks for the family, which reminded us all over again what a lovely day it had been. Liz & Geoff we wish you all the very best for a very happy life together 🙂

In May last year we photographed the wedding of Cheryl & Mark. I worked with Cheryl years ago, so it was fab to catch up with her again and meet her lovely family 🙂 A lovely laid back service at St Mary & All Saints Church in Plymstock was followed by a quick(ish!) trip to Hooe Lake for some photos. VW camper vans are always fun on winding roads and over speedbumps…but we got there!
It was the most beautiful day for a wedding and by the time we got to the reception at Staddon Heights Golf Club, every guest was outside enjoying the sunshine. And if you’ve never been to Staddon Heights I can recommend the views – they are amazing! The laid back approach continued with a hog roast & buffet, and we just managed to sneak in a couple of sunset shots before we left everyone to party on.
A great day for a great couple, not forgetting their completely adorable & cheeky children! We wish you both a very long & happy life together x

An absolutely gorgeous wedding at The Carbis Bay Hotel! Not a whole lot of blue sky, but we made the most of what we got. Abi looked stunning in her beautiful floaty dress and floral headdress, family & friends were great fun, and there was a lovely relaxed feeling to the day 🙂
Back in November last year we spent a frantically fun day with the team at Amanda K Bridal in Truro. Its great to see our photography appearing in Wed Magazine throughout 2015! The next issue will be out very soon, but this advert appeared in issue 33. For all brides searching for ‘the one’ we can thoroughly recommend the Amanda K ‘more than just a dress’ experience 🙂
